Rootstock | Supporter 4 |
Formerly selected as Pi 80 and resulted from a cross between M.9 and M.4. European reports indicate the vigor is similar to M.26 with good resistance to low temperatures, but susceptible to fire blight and it produced few root suckers. Supporter 4 is being tested in the 2002 NC-140 trial at nine locations with ‘Gala’ as the scion cultivar. After five years tree survival and tree size were similar to M.26 and it produced fewer burr knots and similar numbers of rootsuckers than M.26. |
